Carol K. Anthony and Hanna Moog are instructors for both the Seminars and Online Courses.
CAROL ANTHONY began her study of the I Ching in 1971, during a mid-life crisis. She describes this time as of sufficient difficulty to have made her open and receptive when a friend introduced her to the I Ching. She found that it immediately spoke to her on several levels of awareness, and taught her to meditate in an entirely unique way that helped her understand more clearly what the hexagrams were saying. She began to keep notes of these understandings. More than 7 years later, these notes became a complete commentary to the Wilhelm/Baynes translation of the I Ching. Two experiences in meditation guided her to publish her notes under the title, A Guide to the I Ching, and to found Anthony Publishing Company in 1979. She very quickly experienced that her book filled a unique need for people who were trying to understand the I Ching's counsel. Now in its third edition, this book was soon followed by The Philosophy of the I Ching (1981 and 1998. 2nd Ed.). The Other Way, Experiences in Meditation Based on the I Ching followed in 1990, and Love, An Inner Connection, Based on Principles Drawn from the I Ching, in 1993 (2nd Ed. 2002). Her books have since been translated into German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Croatian. I Ching, The Oracle of the Cosmic Way, a collaboration with co-author Hanna Moog, was published in 2002.
Born Carol Kessler in 1930 in West Virginia, Ms. Anthony attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville and the State University of Iowa, where she majored in English and Creative Writing. She has lived most of her adult life in Stow, Massachusetts. While raising her family of four children, she served several years as an editorial writer for the local newspaper. Most of her grown children and seven grandchildren live nearby.

HANNA MOOG, a German citizen, born in 1946, who has a master's degree in National Economics, and diplomas in French and English, came to the I Ching in 1982 during a personal crisis. Although she had no one to teach her how to interpret the I Ching, she allowed it to speak to her feelings. "I was deeply touched by its answers. I realized that no human being would have been able to characterize, as it did, my difficult situation so perfectly. At the same time, it gave me the deep certainty that there was something good in my life waiting to be discovered...something that meant growth, and a new kind of life; something that would truly fulfill me." Consulting the Richard Wilhelm translation daily, she felt that she often only got a glimpse of what it was saying, but she decided to keep her mind open so that a deeper understanding could take place through experience.
Through a number of "helpful coincidences," Ms. Moog was hired to translate a number of English books on the I Ching for German publishers Eugen Diederichs Verlag (original publisher of the Wilhelm translation of the I Ching) and Knaur Verlag, both of Munich. She also compiled a collection of essays which was published under the title Leben mit dem I Ging. Erfahrungen aus Kunst, Therapie, Beruf und Alltag. ("Living with the I Ching. Experiences in the Arts, Therapy, and Professional and Everyday Life," Diederichs, 1996), and wrote the commentaries to a Knaur edition of the I Ching in 1994. (I Ging, Das Orakel- und Weisheitsbuch Chinas.) She has also written a number of articles on the I Ching for German magazines, been featured in several radio programs, and has given lectures and seminars in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and after 1998, in the United States.
At the invitation of Carol Anthony, in 1997, to take over management of Anthony Publishing Company, Inc., Hanna Moog moved to the United States. In 2000, the two women founded The I Ching Institute, where they conduct seminars and continue their researches into the I Ching. The first product of this research is I Ching, The Oracle of the Cosmic Way, published in October of 2002.
